My services and style

  I take photographs of 5-25-day-old newborns in classical Newborn style using different props (fabric backdrops, baskets, tiny beds, toys etc). Also I photograph families with children (Lifestyle) without props and mothers-to-be.

  My services are provided in my home photo studio or at your home. If I come to you, I bring the equipment and props with me. It is also possible to rent any photo studio in Finland. 

 I use studio light during the session, but in summer I can use natural ambient light coming from the window.  

I stick to minimalism in photography. Usually you can see 1 or 2 primary colours in my photos. I try to choose colours and tones in such a way as to reveal the character of my model, emphasize his (her) originality and beauty. 

You can communicate with me in three languages — English, Russian and Finnish.

My approach to work

- As far as I’m educated and experienced in Newborn photography, I’m a specialist in this particular style. I know much about baby physiology. All the poses that I use are natural and don’t harm babies.

- I pay great attention to hygiene. After each session, I thoroughly wash all the fabric props with hypoallergenic gel. I apply special antibacterial spray to the baskets and other props that can’t be washed.

- I treat the baby carefully and tenderly. I try to create a comfortable atmosphere for both the baby and the parents so that the process is a pleasant and exciting event for all participants. 

- You can choose the most convenient shooting location for you: either my home photo studio, or your house/apartment.  I come with everything we need for the session.

- I have unique handmade props. You can choose colours and costumes yourself.

- Individual approach. All your wishes will be taken into account.

- I don’t take more than 5 sessions per month, so I have time to prepare, and then take my time editing the photos without haste.

What is Newborn photography?

   Newborn period is the period of the first month of baby’s life. But all photographers recommend to take photos form 6 to 14 days because babies still have the shape in which they were in mom’s womb. They are tender and touching. In this period they sleep very deeply and they yet don’t have bellyaches. 

I photograph babies in the Newborn style up to 25 days old.

So you can see that the newborn period is very short. In order not to miss it, I recommend signing up for a session in advance, even during pregnancy.

How to book a date for a session?

   It is better to book a photo session in advance, because the number of sessions per month is limited.

   In order to book a date for a session, there are two options: in advance by Due Date or after the birth of the baby. I start booking for a session from the 30th week of pregnancy, that is, two and a half months before the Due Date. We book a date according to the Due Date, and when the baby is born, we agree on a specific day that suits both of us. I remind you that I photograph babies up to 25 days old (for classical Newborn style session). In order to book a day, an advance payment of 100 Euros is required. The prepayment is refundable if you cancel the booking no later than 7 days before the booked date.  The prepayment is deducted from the total cost of the service on the day of the photo session.

How to prepare for the session?

    If I come to your place, I will need about 2 square meters of floor space. If you have a lot of furniture in the room, you will have to move or remove (if possible) some of the things so that I could install the studio light lamp with an umbrella and a backdrop holder. To install the backdrop holder, I will need a table — the bigger the better. If there is no large table, I can use a coffee table or a bed.

   The baby does not need to be specially prepared. I will need a couple of disposable underpads, 5 diapers and a pacifier (dummy)! The pacifier is very important. If you don’t have it, I reccomend to buy one.

   For family shots, you will need to prepare clothes. Clothes should be simple, not evening- or party dresses (without lurex, sequins, etc.), plain, light pastel tones. For dads and boys, it would be perfect to wear a short-sleeve shirt or polo-shirt. For moms and girls — a short-sleeve dress or a blouse with trousers (or jeans/skirt). You can use simple T-shirts — white or black, the main thing is that they do not have bright prints or inscriptions. You can send photos of your clothes to me before the photo shoot, and I will tell you what is the best fit.

   You will need to decide which package of services you are ordering. During the shooting process, I can change the package only choosing more advanced one.

How does the session usually go?

    If I come to your place. This is usually afternoon (about 12 o’clock). I come to your house/flat with all the necessary props, light, clothes for the baby, etc. I choose a place for the session, fold out, assemble the backdrop holder and the light. At this time, you can feed the baby. It is important that the baby is well-fed before the session. Our task is to make the baby fall asleep. If the baby doesn’t want to sleep, I take pictures of him (her) open-eyed. Sooner or later, the baby falls asleep.

   I change the baby myself, change diapers and rock him (her). Your help is only needed for feeding. So when I’m with the baby, you can relax, drink some tea/coffe or go about your business.

   The session lasts from 3 to 5 hours. The time depends on how well the baby is sleeping. If the baby is crying and does not want to sleep, the time of the session may increase up to 5 hours.

   During the session, I turn on the heater (heat fan), which I bring with me to heat the room to 27-28 degrees C. This temperature is necessary for the baby to become calm and fall asleep. I also turn on the special noise (white noise) on my phone — the baby sleeps well hearing the sounds of rustling.

   After the session, the cost of the service is paid (100%). If you have made an advance payment, we will deduct this amount from the package price.

   I will send you a link within two days after the session, so that you can select the images for retouching. The Newborn packages include only 10 digital photos. You can select more photos (any number you wish). The cost of retouching additional photos is 10 Euros per 1 photo. The service does not include photo printing. You will receive edited photos within 2 to 4 weeks from the moment you notify me of which photos you have selected.

Family and Maternity sessions

   I conduct family Lifestyle sessions at your home/my home or in a rented studio. I can take photographs of maternity at your home, in my photo studio or in a rented studio. In summer, we can have a photo shoot outside.

If you order a Maternity photo session, I will give you a 10% discount for the Newborn photo session.

Please note that

  I do not give away or sell unretouched (raw) photographs. The end result of my work is retouched (edited) photos.

  When you post photos on your social networks (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), I would like to ask you to indicate the author — my name in the description.

Permission to publish  

   If you agree to the publication of your photos in my portfolio (on my website and social networks), you will need to give written consent. If you allow the publication, you will get a bonus: I give you a 50 Euro discount for the session Family “Lifestyle” that can be held during the first baby’s year or later.

Terms of sale and use of gift certificates  

    You can purchase gift certificates for a newborn (or other) session for any package of services (the package name will be indicated on the certificate). It has no statute of limitations, so it can be presented, for example, to the newlyweds for a wedding long before the baby is born. The only limitation is that the certificate for newborn session is valid only for a month from the day of the baby’s birth, because the newborn period does not last long. If the baby’s session cannot be carried out before the age of 1 month, the session can be carried out during the first year of the child (Family 'Lifestyle').    Discounts and promotions are not valid when purchasing a certificate. The certificate is non-exchangeable and non-refundable.     If you received a certificate as a gift,  it is possible to change the package to a more “advanced” one with an additional fee.
